Manage the cost of your prescription medications
Prescription medications are a large part of the overall costs associated with health
care. When reasonable steps are taken, these costs can be reduced.
Consider the following suggestions for managing prescription costs:
-
Talk with your doctor about using generic medications. Generic medications must
contain the same active ingredients as the brand name and are priced significantly
lower.
-
Whenever possible, use drugs on Deseret Mutual's formulary.
-
Ask your doctor to prescribe the least costly drug that will appropriately treat
your condition. For example, do not use antibiotics inappropriately: they do not
treat viral infections.
-
Use the mail service Home Delivery program whenever possible.
