Important Information About ICD-10 Unspecified CodesFriday, September 16, 2016
At DMBA, we follow ICD-10 processing guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control for “header codes” and “codes valid for HIPAA transactions.” Based on these guidelines, we must deny claims that use header codes. While these unspecified codes may be valid for billing HIPAA transactions, they don’t meet the appropriate level of specificity for supporting medical necessity. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) TherapyThursday, September 01, 2016
Effective September 1, 2016, all DMBA medical plans will cover ABA therapy for eligible dependents (through age 15) who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, Asperger syndrome, or pervasive developmental disorder, not otherwise specified. This new benefit will not impact other therapy benefits. If additional therapies—such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy—are prescribed separately or as part of an ABA care plan, they will continue to be covered by the existing therapy benefit described in the participant’s medical plan. DMBA has implemented a new online provider application and credentialing program. We no longer accept paper applications. To submit a Provider Application Request, visit the Providers section of our website at www.dmba.com.
